Christmas Markets in Copenhagen

    Joy Smith

In preparation for the holiday season, Christmas markets are now open in Copenhagen

Christmas markets in Copenhagen are extremely popular with shops and stalls, which sell gifts, Christmas trees, decorations, and scrumptious Danish treats such as roasted almonds, waffles, cookies, pancakes, hot chocolate, and mulled wine.  Everyone, especially families with children, can enjoy the atmosphere and the excitement in the city.  Streetlights and the glow of candlelight will banish the dark autumn days and set the mood for a cosy time.  This is certainly Danish hygge.

This year there are Christmas markets in many locations throughout Copenhagen with the most visited being those held in Christiania, Tivoli, Kongens Nytorv, and Nyhavn.  As locals and tourists converge on the city purchasing everything needed for the holidays, the ambience, music, and excitement is palpable.  You might even receive a surprise visit from the man in red!
