Sally Due Sperling will be the new hostess at Danhostel Esbjerg on January 1, 2020. She will replace Marianne and Børge Bull who will say goodbye after 23 wonderful years as hosts at Danhostel Esbjerg. Sally is not a stranger to Danhostel as she is the current hostess at Danhostel Kolding and will say goodbye at the end of 2019.

Welcome to Danhostel Frederikshavn City, a cosy hostel situated in the centre of the beautiful town of Frederikshavn. Host, Ole Hust, has more than twenty years’ experience in the hospitality industry and welcomes guests to an informal, relaxed and cosy setting. “This is not a hotel,” says Ole. “We offer much more, and we are close to the railway station, and ferry terminal.”
Danhostel Frederikshavn City is a lovely 4-star hostel located near the Watchman Square in Frederikshavn. The hostel has three apartments and twenty-seven rooms all with private bathrooms. Each room has comfortable beds and can accommodate up to six guests. The amenities include a well-equipped guest kitchen with a patio behind the hostel, a cosy TV lounge and sofa corner, free WIFI in all areas, plus a net café, free parking just outside the front door, and a great restaurant. An outdoor grilling area is available in an enclosed courtyard, and there is a service elevator, which goes to all floors.
The hostel is located just a few minutes from the ferry terminal in Frederikshavn, and hosts sports groups, school camps, course participants, families, and single travellers. In addition to offering accommodation, Danhostel Frederikshavn City provides the ideal setting for school camps, and assist in planning an educational and fun filled programme for both teachers and students. Concerning meetings and courses, the hostel provides facilities for up to fifty guests who participate in day and overnight courses. Danhostel Frederikshavn City is only 300 m from the ferry, which provides trips to the Danish island of Læsø, and the cities of Gothenburg and Oslo in Sweden and Norway respectively. Danhostel Frederikshavn City is located in the scenic harbour town of Frederikshavn. The area has some of the best beaches and restaurants in Denmark. Frederikshavn is home to the White Hawks Hockey Team and acts as host to many ice hockey competitions. There are many activities, attractions and various specialty shops in Frederikshavn and the surrounding areas. Book a table at The Triangular Hat (Den Trekantede Hat), for a minimum of twenty people and experience a unique meal form the 1700s.
Frederikshavn has many restaurants, specialty shops, museums, and a botanical garden. The hostel is close to many attractions, including Bangsbo Fort, Bangsbo Deer Park, and Palm Beach, which has approximately a hundred palm trees. There are a number of harbours and marinas. A ferry provides services to the Danish island of Læsø, famous for its salt and houses with roofs made of seaweed, and to the archipelago, Hirsholmene, a nature reserve famous for its bird population. The attractions in Frederikshavn include the area of Bangsbo, which boasts a fort with more than seventy-five German bunkers from World War II, a museum, a botanical garden, and hosts a yearly flower festival. Palm Beach is a beautiful beach with palm trees, areas for barbeque, and volleyball courts. Frederikshavn Art Museum has the largest bookplate collection in Scandinavia. Frederikshavn is home to the popular drama series, Norskov.
Danhostel Frederikshavn City is open all year round. Brochures for cities/towns nearby such as Frederikshavn, Skagen, and Sæby are provided in the reception area so guests can obtain information on attractions, and get a sense of the atmosphere in the areas of interest. If you travel by ferry, it is easy to get to the hostel via the covered walkway from the ferry terminal to the city centre. There is twenty-four hour check in services and check out is between 7 am and 10 am.
A Hostelling International (HI) Card provides a number of advantages. Guests with a valid HI Card can get a 10% discount on accommodation when guests book reservation via danhostel.dk/en, hihostels.com, or at the reception desk of any Danhostel during business hours. The card costs 160 Danish kroner and is valid for one year from the date of issue.
