Danhostel Gjerrild: A Gem on Djursland with Secret White Sand Beaches and Organic Silver Label Cuisine

In the town between the forest and the beach - with Sostrup Monastery (Kloster) from the 1300’s, plus one of Denmark’s cleanest and most beautiful beaches - you will find a gem. Railway History and Organic Silver Label
Danhostel Gjerrild has a unique history. It was an old railway depot used in the old days to store unused locomotives, buses and trams. Gjerrild railway dates back to 1911 when the line opened with three trains daily in each direction. The town is known as a family friendly area with organic cuisine. In fact, Danhostel Gjerrild is the only place of accommodation in Jutland with an organic silver label. This was awarded in 2014. Dorthe runs the kitchen with a loving hand, and she and her husband, Torben, are the hostel's hosts. Together they create a cosy atmosphere, not least, a creative and tasty cuisine, which is primarily organic. Meals are provided for meat lovers, vegetarians, adults and children, as well as for those with special dietary needs. If you put emphasis on food history and wholesome products, then Danhostel Gjerrild is a great place for you.
