Gourmet Meals from the Famous Åkøk'net.

Lene Balslev Sørensen, never compromises and sets her ambitions high when it comes to preparing meals for guests at Danhostel Silkeborg in the famous, Åkøk'net.

You may not associate gourmet food with a hostel, but at Danhostel Silkeborg, food is in a class by itself. Last year, the “Top Chef of the Year” was awarded to Danhostel Silkeborg.

Everything is homemade and made from scratch in the famous kitchen known as Åkøk'net.  We are talking about bread, pastries, and various types of marmalade.  Most ingredients are organic and grown locally.  The hosts at Danhostel Silkeborg believe that all meals should be of good quality and provide diners with more than just a meal.  Food should not just be nourishment for the body, but should provide a culinary experience.

"All meals prepared in my kitchen are carefully thought out.  Everything is made with care from scratch, and we use good, organic products,” says Lene Balslev Sørensen, at Danhostel Silkeborg.
