Havnebadet – Harbour Bath at Islands Brygge
Across from Danhostel Copenhagen City at Islands Brygge you will find one of the popular harbour baths in Copenhagen.
In 2000, Copenhagen Municipality expended much effort to improve the water quality in the harbour, leading to the availability of harbour baths for swimming.
Danish architect Bjarke Ingles, also known for, among other construction, the renowned residential building 8-tallet, designed the harbor bath at Island Brygge. The bath comprises five different pools – two of which are shallow children’s pools. It also features a three-tiered diving platform (1 m, 3 m, and 5 m).
A large green area lies next to the actual harbour bath. Here you can relax on your blanket or enjoy a picnic. Many cafes, several ice cream shops, and a hotdog stand or two are conveniently located near the harbour, and there are clean public toilets.
Lifeguards always monitor the bath during opening hours.
