Sally Due Sperling will be the new hostess at Danhostel Esbjerg on January 1, 2020. She will replace Marianne and Børge Bull who will say goodbye after 23 wonderful years as hosts at Danhostel Esbjerg. Sally is not a stranger to Danhostel as she is the current hostess at Danhostel Kolding and will say goodbye at the end of 2019.
Things to Experience when you are on Holiday in or around Sønderborg
Danhostel has two accommodations in Sønderborg - one in the town centre and the other in the rural area called Vollerup. There is also a large Danhostel in Rinkenæs. All 3 locations are close to the border with Germany and are good starting points for a holiday in South Jutland.

Enjoy Nature on Horseback at Sydals and Gråsten
There are great experiences in Southern Jutland for experienced riders and beginners. Two locations offer rental of horses and tours through the forest. At Equifree Horse Rental, go on carriage rides in the forests in Gråsten and practice your bow and arrow skills while riding. Experienced riders can walk on the beach and ride in the water. Thormod Horse Rental offers horse rentals and nature tours. Also, the young can ride on a pony.

The Museum at Sønderborg Castle
At the southern entrance to Als Sund, you will discover a historic castle that sits majestically by the water. The castle is beautiful inside and out. View the palace's beautiful interior and visit the museum, where you can explore the building and learn its history. King Christian the III and his son Frederik the II introduced tilting-at-the-ring to Denmark in the 1500s, so the palace also forms the setting for the famous ring rides which take place every Tuesday throughout the summer.
Stay in South Jutland at Danhostel Sønderborg City or at child-friendly Danhostel Sønderborg-Vollerup, Both are in Sønderborg. A bit further south, closer to the German border, is Danhostel Flensborg Fjord, a newly renovated Danhostel with lots to offer.
