West Coast Route - From Rudbøl to Skagen
The West Coast route (Vestkystruten) or Denmark's National Cycle route 1, is number 1 with good reason. The 560 km long route goes along Denmark’s west coast from Skagen in the North, to Rudbøl in the South.
The West Coast Route is signposted all the way and is one of the longest marked routes. If you ride a bicycle, you will go through some of the most beautiful and varied nature that Denmark has to offer. Ride by forests, fjords, the North Sea, heath, dunes, marshes and two national parks.
Make this a memorable cycling holiday. Experience the beauty of Thy National Park and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wadden Sea National Park. Denmark's oldest town, Ribe, with its well-known Cathedral and Viking history, is near the southern end of the route, while at the northernmost end of the route is beautiful Skagen, the brightest and lightest summer town, with fascinating art, museums and mouth-watering culinary experiences.
You can find accommodation along the west coast route at 15 different Danhostels, which line the entire route. Even though the information is in Danish, just scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the Danhostels on the route.
