Danhostel Helsingør
Danhostel Helsingør, also known as Villa Moltke, lies on the outskirts of the experience-packed town of Elsinore. We are the ideal base for activities in North Zealand.
Book accommodation in one of our 42 rooms or 8 cabins. We offer free Wi-Fi, TV rooms, a playground, a lounge with a pool, an activity room for children, and a modern guest kitchen. Enjoy our breakfast buffet with freshly baked bread, yoghurt, muesli, fresh fruits, cold cuts, cheese, coffee, tea and juice. Sit in our large dining room and welcome the morning sun as it peeks through the paned windows. Children can play in the backyard while adults bask in the sun, enjoy the ocean roar, or relax with an intriguing book on the red garden chairs.
There are many delights right at the water's edge. Enjoy a swim at our private beach directly out to the Øresund (Sound). Walk barefoot in the sand, and enjoy stunning views of Kronborg Castle’s towers when you stay with us.
Danhostel Helsingør is close to cultural offerings and architecture. Walk 10 minutes along the beach to Kronborg Castle, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. The Castle which towers over the Øresund is a reminder of the King's power and was once one of the main sources of income in the region. Meet Holger Danske as he waits patiently for you in one of the secret tunnels. Experience Hamlet's castle inside and out regardless of the weather and view the Renaissance castle's fortifications. Take a brisk walk up and down the ramparts with many opportunities to look out of the old arrow slits.
While in Elsinore, visit the world-famous Maritime Museum, designed by the Danish architect, Bjarke Ingels, who designed many well-known buildings in Copenhagen. The Maritime Museum is unique. It is underground in an old dry dock between Kronborg and Culture Yard. This modern underground museum provides a wide range of exhibits and experiences for families with children, students and tourists.
Visit Elsinore town with cobbled streets and well-stocked shops. If you enjoy medieval culture, tour The Church of Saint Mary (Sct. Mariæ Kirke), a former monastery with a beautiful garden, which creates an idyllic setting. Learn more about Elsinore's history when you drop by the town’s new cultural centre, Kulturværftet, with auditoriums for theatre, concerts, exhibitions and meetings. Remember to stop by the statue of HAN, nicknamed ‘The Little Merman’, the famous brother of the Little Mermaid. He is well-known from Japan to the United States. Ride around North Zealand, also called “Copenhagen's green front yard”. Rent a bicycle at the hostel and venture into the unknown.
Visitors come to Danhostel Helsingør repeatedly to attend weddings and courses, to spend time with family and friends, or as a single traveller, family, couple or group. Visit this maritime town on the tip of North Zealand. One night at Danhostel Helsingør is not enough. Contact us at +45 4928 4949 or email us at helsingor@danhostel.dk.
